ELROND: ....
FRODO: Oooookay. Perhaps someone who has fought a Balrog before then?
GLORFINDEL: I’m sorry but facing a Balrog and dying once is plenty for me. Besides, Elves like myself who have dwelt in the Blessed Realm glow like the Beacons of Gondor in the Unseen Realm.1 I’d basically be a walking “Here we are! Find the One Ring here!” sign to the Nazgûl.
FRODO: Well I hadn’t thought of that.
GANDALF: [long glare at Elrond and Glorfindel] *I* will go with you, Frodo.
FRODO: Oh thank you, Gandalf!
GANDALF: Helping these Hobbits is going to be the death of me
