There's more than Middle Earth in Tolkien's fiction catalog anyway. Why doesn't someone try to adapt "Leaf And Niggle", "Smith of Wooton Major", "Farmer Giles of Ham", "Mr. Bliss" or the Father Christmas letters?
My only problem with the Silmarillion being turned into a film is that it isn't really one continuous story (it is but it isn't) it's a collection of stories. I'd rather not have a film for it (as cool as it could be)
This is probably a huge plus from Jackson's and Warners' perspective, since they love to stretch things out into multiple films. More movies, more profit. So they'll adapt each story in The Silmarillion into its own movie!
Fellowship was the best of all the films. The rest are fine, but they dwindle from the epic scope and sincere attempt at greatness the first film seemed to embody.
Jackson, as a successful money-maker, is not interesting. He’s gone MacDonalds with it to keep the cash-flow rolling. The appeal behind Jackson was when he had everything to lose.
Do I want to see more Tolkien onscreen? Yes. Do I want Peter Jackson & co to be at the helm of that potential future project? Eh. I don't know. It's pretty clear that Christopher didn't want that so I feel weird about his wishes being disregarded.
I'd love to see The Silmarillion adapted in the same style they did The War of the Rohirrim movie. Unfortunately, most of the PJ live action films seem to be in the "play it safe" category. If they have courage, it could be done well. I want it to be done well. We'll see.

Farmer Giles, done correctly, would be hilarious! My kids love that story.

The tomatoes! That is hilarious. I need to figure out a way to justify spending that much money on a Lego set…
The Silmarillion definitely can’t be “a movie.” A series would be cool though.

Please God no.
