“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements—surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”
Job 38:4-7 ESV
There appears to have been some singing! Also, note the lesser and greater lights that “rule” night and day in the Gen 1 account. Additionally, “let us make man in our own image” has been taken to be God talking to his divine council (rather than reading the Trinity back into it or a majestic plural). There is precedent for the active role of sub-creators in creation itself as presented in Tolkien’s and Lewis’ creation narratives!
I love this whole comment, but especially the connection to Job! (apologies for the delay; in my mind I had already sent this comment but I discovered today that was not the case! haha)
Still love this piece!
A beautiful and refreshing reflection…good for the soul as I’m trying not to get distracted with the news right now…
