It’s January 16th already, which means that today is the first day the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings trilogy returns to theaters!¹

I thought I’d take this opportunity both with the start of the calendar year and the return of the extended editions to resurrect something I’ve done in the past but never quite mastered: “Councils” for Extended Edition Members to discuss with each other on a regular basis.

So today I’d love to hear from you:

• Are you planning on seeing the films in theaters this month? (If yes, please feel free to come back here afterwards and share about your experience!)

• Do you have a particular memory of seeing them (either during their original theatrical release or in the years since) you’d like to share?

• Which of the trilogy is your favorite? (In case you missed it, here’s my answer)

• Are you at all excited about The Hunt for Gollum and other potential films from Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. in the coming years?
